Regina Jupp

Bio

Regina Jupp is an artist, speaker, and arts minister from Chicago, IL. She unites art with theology to help churches, schools and other groups reflect, celebrate and begin the process of healing. Additionally, Regina assists churches in developing rich, collaborative worship arts ministries. Regina recently returned to the art world after a two year battle with stage III cancer. She previously served as an executive director of a non-profit organization for international students and refugees.

 Collaborative Art

Regina integrates her love for people, art and strong theology when partnering with a church. She assists churches in constructing a thriving visual arts ministry. Gently encouraging and recruiting everyone from the non-artistic layperson to the worship pastor, teenagers to theologians, Regina weaves a church family together. Her collaborative model provides opportunities for every skill set in almost any medium. This allows a church to create from the heart of their own identity. When she has finished, Regina leaves the worship arts team feeling empowered and inspired.

Artist Statement

My artwork is an attempt at emulating the creative nature of God-- a rescue mission aimed at redeeming materials in a way that evokes awe. My efforts are filled with experimentation and discovery.

Composition is very important to me. During production I am conscious of the path by which the viewers eyes will travel across a piece. I want that journey to be a beautiful one.

In my paintings, vague shadow-like images express longing and dissatisfaction or color filled layers are illuminated in golden glory. In installations, repurposing often discarded or leftover materials speaks to redemption, beauty, and worth. Each piece is a new challenge, requiring me to learn new skills in order to complete it.

When an idea comes to me, I am anxious to implement it right away. I wake up each day excited to add the next element like the next chapter in a great book. I am unsatisfied until it is complete. Click here to learn more about my painting process.
