Regina Jupp

Sacred Art and Installations

In addition to her sacred art paintings, Regina often collaborates with churches, schools and ministries to create beautiful and meaningful pieces. These pieces are tailored to fit the character of each unique place. She could be asked to come along side a church in mourning, assist in empowering victims, inspire a church to celebrate the next season, or something else. Most often Regina loves to organize collaborative work with members of that particular community. This ensures that the final pieces are a true and well-loved reflection of the people within the organization. The projects below are just a small sample of this work.

Music School Stairway Kinetic Installation

Created a magical, inspiring, transition for students moving from life at the street level to a second floor music school. Plans included dipped drum sticks, dangling instruments, fairy chimes along the stair railing for students to run their fingers through.

Abba Father

Collaborative Church: Regina Jupp | Jared Postma | Lombard CRC (2017)

Abba is an Aramaic name of God used in the New Testament. When translated, Abba means “Father,” but most similar to a small child calling out “Dad.” This is one of the names of God that illustrates how accessible God makes himself to us.

To create this piece, we made an audio recording of the congregation at Lombard CRC corporately praying “Abba, Father.”  That sound wave was then simplified into this vertical pattern and amplified in wood. People of the congregation further nuanced the piece by staining it while reflecting on a personal prayer.

Everyone comes to church, on Sunday, with different things on their hearts. Some are thankful or celebrating, while others are mourning or suffering. Yet, when we come together as a church and call out to God with one voice, the Bible tells us our prayers are not only heard, they are amplified.
